WOOHOO!

Heck yes! I DID it! I read 8 books, I repeat EIGHT BOOKS in October! Wow! That's some sort of accomplishment, isn't it? (:
*pats own shoulder*

Even though I am super duper busy with school, I wanted to read at least one book a week, but since I also read a few small books, I managed to read eight books. Heck yes!

Gotta love reading..

Oh and by the way, I also have a Goodreads profile, if you wanna check it out. If you don't know what a goodreads profile is, that's basically this website (www.goodreads.com) where you can post which books you've read, and when, and what your opinion on that particular book is, and you can fill in polls and such, aaaaaaandd also, you can do a book challenge! I am doing the 50 books challenge, which means you have to try to read 50 books in 2013. I have already read 35 books so far, which means I am currently on 70% :D

Terrible timing

Well, since I have barely any spare time this upcoming week, and I have an exam week, it seems like the perfect time to start blogging regularly again, don't you think?
Oh man, my timing is so bad. But the thing is, when you have to study you get bored, and even more bored and suddenly you find yourself doing things that make absolutely no sense, or things you should do another time, WHEN YOU GOT THE TIME!

Ghehe. Guilty. So guilty. But I can't help it! I can't wait to finish school. Meh. Just hang in there for 7 more months. Or something like that. When are the exams again? I believer somewhere in May, here in The Netherlands. Terrifying. It really is. But until that time, let's just try to survive school, and read a few more books. Yay.

Divergent trailer!

AAAAAAAHHHH THE FIRST LOOK OF THE DIVERGENT MOVIE WAS RELEASED LAST NIGHT!!

I have waited forever for this! I am so excited for the movie to come out next year.

Oh and if you haven't read the books, you DEFINETELY should! When I read the first book I immediately fell in love with the series. The last book in the series is supposed to come out in November in the Netherlands I believe.

Here's the link to the trailer. Enjoy!

Sending cards

Almost every year, when me and my family are on summer holiday I send cards to my friends and family home. Old school huh?
Usually those photoshopped and over-edited cheeky cards but not this year!

Yesterday (Thu August 15th) we went to Napels and climbed the Vesuvius Vulcano! (And visited some other places but more about that later)
At the top, next to the crater there was a cute little shop that sold all sorts of cards, and mu eye fell for this vintage looking card of a photograph of the eruction of the vulcano in 1944. Exactly the type of card I like!

So I immediatly bought 12 of them. One for me and the rest for friends and family.
Don't you love it? (:

Church windows

When you're in Rome, it's very likely you'll see a church at almost every street corner. They're everyhere. In all shapes and sizes. One of my favorite things about those churches/cathedrals/basilicas/whateveryouprefer are the windows.

In these churches (a lot of them were built during the Renaissance) everyhing is BIG. Everything. The sculptures, the statues, the paintings and so on. The windows are different. They aren't supposed to be the big eye catcher so often they are subtle and modest. Exacly what I like. With pretty colors and often a story is told in the glass.

The picture above is one of my favorites. It isn't very special or big, but I like it.
You can spot it in the Santa Maria Maggiore, about a 20 minute walk from the colosseum.

Minesweeper

It's one of those games you can play all the time for a couple of days, only to forget about the game and don't play it for months. The game I'm talking about is Minesweeper.

And yes, currently I'm totally addicted to it again. It's vacation time, chilling by the pool and doing nothing much. Scrolling through your phone and suddenly you see that one game you haven't played in months. So you decide to give it a go and before you know it you can't stop yourself and play it all the time.

So my go to useless game of the moment definetely is minesweeper (:

My goal before we go home again is to finish the "hard" game at least once. I am so bad at it haha.

One more test

Allright guys, I'm almost back! One more test to go! And then, finally, SUMMER BREAK! Yay! So excited! Hopefully I'll pass this year and next school year will be my senior year. That's supposed to be the best year of your life, right? Well, we'll see about that

Just hang in there

Just 6 more weeks to go! Until summer vacation! Seriously can't freakin' wait! But before the time's there, there is so much left to do.. So many school work, homework, exams, tests, CAE exam, assignments to hand in.. and so forth. Ugh. Whyyyyy.

But when that's all over, and I (hopefully) pass this year, I'll have my break and after that my final year of high school. I am SO looking forward to studying in university! Living on my own, studying what I find interesting, growing up, and all those things.

Me and my fam are probably going on summer vacation this year. But, as usual, we haven't booked yet. We're the kind of people that decide last minute. Last year we went to Rome (oh Rome, how beautiful and amazing you are), and maybe we're returning this year. Or we'll spend a couple of weeks under the Tuscan sun. (: But the chances are high we're going to Italy.
Know that movie? It is on TV every once in a while here in Holland, so I've seen it enough times :P

I am SO done with school. Can't bring up the concentration and motivation anymore, but I have to. Just hang in there. These 6 weeks will be over before I know it. Hopefully.

Happee Birthday Dad.

Today, Sunday June 2nd, is NOT my dad's birthday. It is tomorrow actually. But we're celebrating today for friends and family, and the weather just happens to be perfect. (:
The sun is shining, there are birds in the garden, waiting for us to leave our food and then steal is from us, and everyone is happy. I love these days. And about time too! It is officially summer in only 19 days, and we haven't had such a cold spring in about 40 years I believe, here in our little county.

And I finished Looking for Alaska, by John Green. Finally. Didn't read much last week, but since the weather was so nice, I decided to take my book outside and finish it in the sun.
I REALLY liked it. Didn't know what to expect, and since the book is from a boy's POV, there's a lot of 'girl reviewing' in the book. But it was very nicely written, and a lot of great philosophy is in it. I would definetely recommend it!

Now it is time for me to start studying for my Cambridge exam, which means even MORE reading haha. Gonna start reading 'The Lighthouse' by P.D. James tonight! I promise. I think..

PS; noticed my Harry Potter reference in the post? If you do, I love you! Oh well, I already gave it away with the pic. Nah. (:

Prettay!

I'm not much of a makeup girl. Actually, not at all. The only thing I wear on a daily basis is mascara. Thanks to my glasses that's the only thing I really need, because my dark circles are covered by the frame of my glasses. Oh, my extra 2 eyes, how much I love you (:

Oh well. But I needed some new mascara. After over 1,5 year my mascara is finally empty. Is that how you say it? Empty? Or should I just say "I ran out of mascara". Hm yeah, I think that's probably better to say. Even though my lashes are very short and even with mascara you can hardly see them, I like to make them just a bit more visible. So that's why I bought 2 new mascaras today. Look at that packaging! How awesome and pretty does that look?!
They are by the makeup brand Essence. I don't know if they sell in other countries, but they are very very cheap. Both of these mascaras were under €3. *explosion* How amazing is that!? Pretty amazing, would I say.

The background of the picture is totally my Greek homework by the way haha. We're currently reading about Odysseus' return to Ithaka. Already know the entire story but still pretty entertaining to read (:

Time to clean my room!

The Sierra Bed: A Clean Bedroom Exclusive
Yup, one of the biggest problems while being a teenager: cleaning your room and KEEPING it that way. And I am terrible at it. My mom is constantly talking about how I need to clean my room, but I just can't do it, for some reason. Everytime I clean it, it is just as big of a mess as it was before, within an hour. But the weirdest thing of all, is that WHEN I clean my room, I CLEAN it, like seriously clean everything. All there is to clean, I clean it, and I can't stop before all is perfectly in place. Uhhh weird? Yeah, pretty much. Explain to me! How does this work!? How do I keep my room clean and how can I keep away from moms constantly telling me to clean it up? Complications...

Oh, and the room you see on the picture, is obviously not my room. I got it from some lame bed site or something haha (:

Prometheus

File:Griepenkerl, Beseelung der menschlichen Tonfigur durch Athena.jpg

Prometheus. One of the MANY main characters in the Greek mythology. Personally, I think all those myths are very interesting, and fun to read. For school I have to write an essay (and present it in front of class) about an ancient subject. Wow, that's a super clear instruction. Not. Oh well, me and my friend chose the myth of Prometheus, some dude who steals fire from the gods and creates the human race, along with Athena. No but really, I do like the myth, and it is very interesting to read. Could recommend it (:

50 Book Challenge and Movies List

Maybe you noticed, but in case you didn't: I have 3 new pages on my blog! One contains some information about me, and the other two are a 50 book challenge and a movies list.

50 Books
This is a challenge I found when I was reading the booksandquills blog. There are also a lot of videos on youtube about it. It basically means that you have to read at least 50 books in a year. And even thought 2013 started a while back, I'm stille going to attempt the challenge. Wow, that's gonna be interesting, especially since I only read 9 (shame on me) books this year.
Time for a change! I've been reading so little (is that correct grammar? help me out here please) lately and I want to change that. I'll just have to make time for it (:
Good plan? Good plan. Wish me luck.

Movies List
Aaaaand I'm also trying to write down all the movies I have watched this year. Once again, my memory isn't too great and I don't remember everything, but the list is already pretty long so far. Now the only thing left to do is keeping up (:

That is all I wanted to talk about! Hopefully you enjoy my book and movies lists, and maybe you can take some inspiration out of it.

Currently reading.

Since it is weekend, I thought, why not starting in a new book? So I did. I chose to read 'Looking for Alaska' by John Green. I bought it 3 weeks ago while I was in London (waaahhhh london a;lsjdfljasdf love it there). And guess where I bought it.... HARRODS! How cool is that (:
Actually nothing special, but hey, there is only one Harrods, and the only things that are not ridiculously expensive are books. Mwuahaha. So I bought my book there.

I only just started in the book. I am currently on page.. uhh let me look it up. Just a sec. On page 31. Not much has happened yet, except I read some guy's visions on the female body. Ah.. how interesting. But I am very curious how this book's gonna be. Heard some pretty good stuff about it. I'll let you know if it is worth a read. (:

Weeeeeeekend!

Yay! It's finally weekend! Or technically, weekend is almost over. But hey, look on the bright side. We have an extra day off of school this monday. Time for a little party! Oh wait, not really. School has been really tough this year. And I'm probably not gonna pass this year, so maybe I'll have to re-do this school year. How depressing is that.. I once said I'd rather die dan re-do the school year. Well, that's of course not the case and I didn't mean it, but it kind of shows you how much I hate school and how depressed I would be if I wouldn't pass. I would be destroyed, literally.
But I'm gonna do as much as I can to pass! I just HAVE TO. No mather what it takes.
Well, now that we've had that. time for some other stuff.

Monday me and some of my friends are having a BBQ. Even though it's gonna rain, but that doens't matter haha. We'll think of something to stay dry. Just went shopping for some groceries and I think we've got all we need. So I'm really looking forward to that!

And I am trying to blog as much as I can, even though I don't really have the time. But I think it is very important for me to keep practicing English as much as I can, since my CAE (Cambridge Advanced English) exams are coming up! On Wednesday June 12 is the written part of the exam (the entire day!) and on Saturday the 22th I have my speaking part. Very nervous.. I have to get at least a C in order to pass the exam. And blogging (and reading english fiction books) are a perfect excuse to practise. (:

Inspirational Quote #6

"Life is Trying things to See if they Work"
Inspirational quote #6. Life is all about trying new things, stepping out of your comfort zone, and doing what you love. That is something I really should do more often.
