Divergent trailer!

AAAAAAAHHHH THE FIRST LOOK OF THE DIVERGENT MOVIE WAS RELEASED LAST NIGHT!!

I have waited forever for this! I am so excited for the movie to come out next year.

Oh and if you haven't read the books, you DEFINETELY should! When I read the first book I immediately fell in love with the series. The last book in the series is supposed to come out in November in the Netherlands I believe.

Here's the link to the trailer. Enjoy!

Sending cards

Almost every year, when me and my family are on summer holiday I send cards to my friends and family home. Old school huh?
Usually those photoshopped and over-edited cheeky cards but not this year!

Yesterday (Thu August 15th) we went to Napels and climbed the Vesuvius Vulcano! (And visited some other places but more about that later)
At the top, next to the crater there was a cute little shop that sold all sorts of cards, and mu eye fell for this vintage looking card of a photograph of the eruction of the vulcano in 1944. Exactly the type of card I like!

So I immediatly bought 12 of them. One for me and the rest for friends and family.
Don't you love it? (:

Current Pool Reads

When the weather is so hot everyday, I pretty much hang out by the pool all day. And what's better than reading a good book while you're laying at the pool.

At the moment I'm reading two books.
1. Travels With Charlie: In Search of America - John Steinbeck
2. What We Talk About When We Talk About Anne Frank - Nathan Englander

Travels with Charlie is like the perfect book for me. Ever since I was 10 years old I've dreamt of studying and living in America. It may be naive but that's my biggest dream. There's just something about the USA that appeals to me. I often feel like I was born in the wrong country...
This book describes how John Steinback rediscovers his country and I really love the book so far.
(And yes, the book on the picture is the Dutch version ^^)

And the second book: what we talk about when we talk about anne frank. Which, first of all, has an amazing name if you ask me. But there are way too many capitals in the title if you have to type this on a phone (;
The book contains a few short stories which are all in a way connected to Anne Frank, World War 2 and Israel. Maybe a bit odd to read this when you're hanging by the pool but it's quite easy to read and the stories are very interesting.

Roman trees

Sigh. I absolutely hate (most of the time) vertical pictures. I don't know, I just don't like them. Hea shots and such are fine vertical, but when you take a picture of a landscape it just has to be taken horizontal. In my opinion.
So please please please forgive me for using a vertical picture haha (:
How stupid, I wanted to make a post about the lovely Roman trees here on the camp site but the sun hasn't set yet so I had to use a picture from last year (we went here last year also) and couldn't find a better one. Oops.

Okay, let's get to the point. One of the things I love about this place is the trees. They're super tall and kind of majestic in my opinion. How cool are they, right?! When we're sitting outside (which is always, thanks to the lovely weather) I can just stare at them forever. So much more exciting than the regular Dutch trees (:

Soooooo at the bar there is a karaoke thing going on at the moment and some Italian 50+ woman is singing My Immoral by Evannesscence (HOW do you spell that?!) for the 10th time now! Like wut? Is she rehearsing or something? Oh well. Let's try to ignore it and take another dive in the beautiful pool.

Hi!

Hello there guys! It's been soo long and I'm soooo sorry! I haven't posted anything in over a month I believe. So here's what happened.

First, on July 10th my teacher called to tell me that I didn't pass this year at school. BAM. Bummer.
I felt like my world had exploded and there was nothing left for me. I was absolutely devastated.
For a couple of days I could only cry and feel sad. But then I decided it was enough. The past year was a terrible year for me. I didn't feel comfortable with myself, thought I was fat and ugly and couldn't find the motivation that was necessery to get things done.
It was time for a change. I decided to join the gym near my house. Every day of the week (exept the weekends because then I have to work) at least one hour I spent in the gym for the past couple of weeks. I admit, it is tough. Very tough. But I like it. Working out makes me feel comfortable with myself. My body is healthy now and I'd like to keep it that way. I am not ashamed of my body when I go swimming and overall, I feel great!

So the first weeks of my summer holiday were terrible but now it's great.

I am currently chilling at the swimming pool in Rome, Italy! Yes! I love it here and the weather is great! Gonna be posting some pictures and blogposts this week. Look forward to it (:

One more test

Allright guys, I'm almost back! One more test to go! And then, finally, SUMMER BREAK! Yay! So excited! Hopefully I'll pass this year and next school year will be my senior year. That's supposed to be the best year of your life, right? Well, we'll see about that

Just wanted to let you know that there will be regular blogposts very soon!

Now or never!

This .gif is in honor of Despicable ME 2 finally coming to cinemas in The Netherlands. Yay!

Alright. So it's now or never. The last test week of the year is about to start. Ugh. Well that's gonna be something. I HAVE to get good grades in order to pass this year. Fingers crossed!
Nothing much to tell actually. Only that I will probably not post much this upcoming week, since I have to focus on my tests. Just so you know (:

What a slut time is, she screws everybody.

Time for an update!
Okay, so this afternoon (June 22) I have the speaking part of my Cambridge Exam. And after that, I'll be done! With the exam, I mean. The only thing left to do after that is wait for the results. Oh July 24, please come quick.

In a few days my last exam week of the year will start. In 5 days to be exact. I'll have to make 6 tests, and 4 oral exams (German, French, English and history). And I'm already stressing out. Crap.
And the days before my first test are going to be pretty busy too. For French and German I have to write 2 letters (for a grade), I still have to make a French test and a math test. So thats 6 tests in 3 days. Oh wait, I forgot my reading exam for German. That makes 7. Well, isn't that just great? But I'll have to get good grades in order to pass this year. Senior year seems like so much fun, even though you have even more work to do than I already have now. But it seems worth it.

May the odds be ever in my favor...

And on top of all the work I have to do and the exam stress, I have a graduation party and two birthday parties tonight. WHERE WILL I FIND THE TIME?!

PS: I just felt like sharing a gif. of a rabbit devouring lettuce with you. (:

Just hang in there

Just 6 more weeks to go! Until summer vacation! Seriously can't freakin' wait! But before the time's there, there is so much left to do.. So many school work, homework, exams, tests, CAE exam, assignments to hand in.. and so forth. Ugh. Whyyyyy.

But when that's all over, and I (hopefully) pass this year, I'll have my break and after that my final year of high school. I am SO looking forward to studying in university! Living on my own, studying what I find interesting, growing up, and all those things.

Me and my fam are probably going on summer vacation this year. But, as usual, we haven't booked yet. We're the kind of people that decide last minute. Last year we went to Rome (oh Rome, how beautiful and amazing you are), and maybe we're returning this year. Or we'll spend a couple of weeks under the Tuscan sun. (: But the chances are high we're going to Italy.
Know that movie? It is on TV every once in a while here in Holland, so I've seen it enough times :P

I am SO done with school. Can't bring up the concentration and motivation anymore, but I have to. Just hang in there. These 6 weeks will be over before I know it. Hopefully.

Happee Birthday Dad.

Today, Sunday June 2nd, is NOT my dad's birthday. It is tomorrow actually. But we're celebrating today for friends and family, and the weather just happens to be perfect. (:
The sun is shining, there are birds in the garden, waiting for us to leave our food and then steal is from us, and everyone is happy. I love these days. And about time too! It is officially summer in only 19 days, and we haven't had such a cold spring in about 40 years I believe, here in our little county.

And I finished Looking for Alaska, by John Green. Finally. Didn't read much last week, but since the weather was so nice, I decided to take my book outside and finish it in the sun.
I REALLY liked it. Didn't know what to expect, and since the book is from a boy's POV, there's a lot of 'girl reviewing' in the book. But it was very nicely written, and a lot of great philosophy is in it. I would definetely recommend it!

Now it is time for me to start studying for my Cambridge exam, which means even MORE reading haha. Gonna start reading 'The Lighthouse' by P.D. James tonight! I promise. I think..

PS; noticed my Harry Potter reference in the post? If you do, I love you! Oh well, I already gave it away with the pic. Nah. (:

The perfect spring/summer song

The weather today was amazing in The Netherlands! Wow! Haven't seen that in a while.. But it was about 20 degrees Celsius and the sun was shining and it was just lovely and exactly what I needed at the moment. When I woke up around 7AM and opened my window I heard the birds whistling and the sun shone in my eyes and it was just perfect. And there is this song, which resembles that feeling so good, it is Plage by Crystal Fighters.

I listened to it all morning non-stop! (School did not start until 12 'o clock ^^)

Uh-uh, I know, the song is pretty old. But I love iiiit! Last summer when we went to Rome with the fam, I listened to the song on our way to Rome, and it just brings back a lot of great memories whenever I listen to the song. Summer, lovely weather, great time with family, relaxing, not worrying about a thing... kinda hard to explain.

But anyways, I just want to share the song with you guys, if you haven't heard it before.
ENJOY!

Spring, where did you go?

Ugh. And the rain is back again here in Holland. How great. It's been raining almost non stop the past couple of days. And it's been cold too! Just rain; fine with me, but it is the cold that's killing me. Last week we were tricked into believing spring was finally coming up. Too bad...

Well, the weather may be terrible when you have to bike to school every day, but when it's late at night and you have a warm cup of tea and a good book, it's lovely. So that's what I'm about to do now! Just grabbing a new book (probably gonna read The Fault in Our Stars or Looking for Alaska) and making a hot cup of cherry tea. Have a lovely evening!

Lovely Weather

Oops. This picture is a bit bigger than I expected. Oh well, doesn't matter. I love this floral print! Don't you? (:

It reminds me of the lovely weather we've had these past couple of days in the Netherlands. We had a lot of sun, lovely! During class you can sit right next to the window and enjoy the sun shining through the windows. Just close your eyes and relax. And during lunch me and my friends like to sit on the field next to the school and eat our meals there. Ahh, the perfect summer feeling. My mom said I already started to get tanned, haha.

Lovely Spring/Summer Fabrics

Good day folks! Today another sort of DIY blog post. Or actually, more of a sewing post? I dont' know exactly what to call it. Let me just begin at the start. I like to sew my own clothes. I am still in the learning process and I still need some help here and there, but I am okay (:
I started making clothes for the first time about two years ago, when I was 13. It's not like I make all of my clothes myself. Not at all! Just sometimes (usually during vacations) make clothes. My latest project were some really lazy and baggy trousers. I made those the past Holidays. And last wednesday, there was a conference where there are a ton of stands where you can buy fabric, patterns, needles, and everying else you could ever need for crafting. I went there with my mom and grandma (who also love to sew and to diy. I obviously got it from them) and I went looking for some fabrics. I wanted to find 2 very colorful pieces of fabric to make a skirt and to make another one of those lazy and baggy trousers (but this time I wanted summer-y colors).

On the picture on top of the page you can see the pieces of fabric I bought. I know it's not that clear to see, but there are 2 pieces of fabric, not one haha, although they look alike. The one on the left, I want to use for the other pair of trousers. The one on the right I want to use to make a bright and happy floral skirt. So far, I have made just 4 pieces of clothing: a pair of trousers, a pair of jeans, a blouse and of course the baggy trousers I mentioned before. And since almost all of them (except the blouse) are more winter/autumn clothing, I wanted to make something cheerful. Well, if you ask me, these pieces of fabric are perfect! Don't you think?

The teeny tiny picture on the right is a model of what the skirt is going to look like. Very wavy and summer-y. I love the pattern and it is not that hard to make. Whenever I have the time (hopefully very soon) I am going to start with the trousers, since I can wear those earlier than this thin skirt haha.
Spring, here I come!
